Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
- 1 tsp garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp cornstarch, mixed with 2 tbsp water (for thickening)
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients to ensure a smooth cooking process.
- Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
- Heat the skillet over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.
- Add the chicken pieces, seasoned with salt and pepper, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare the teriyaki sauce by mixing soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, water, ginger, and garlic in a bowl.
- Pour the teriyaki sauce over the chicken and stir to coat.
- Reduce the heat to low.
- Mix the cornstarch with two tablespoons of water to create a slurry, then add it to the skillet.
- Stir until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, consider marinating the chicken in the sauce for 30 minutes or overnight. You can also experiment with different proteins or vegetables.
