A delightful twist on the classic tuna melt, featuring layers of creamy tuna salad, toasted bread, and melted cheese, perfect for lunch or a quick snack.
Ingredients
- 1 can tuna, drained
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup celery, chopped
- 1/4 cup red onion, chopped
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 6 slices sourdough bread
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Combine the canned tuna, mayonnaise, chopped celery, chopped red onion, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix well.
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
- Butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
- Spread a generous amount of the tuna mixture on the unbuttered side of a slice of bread.
- Top with another slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Cook in the skillet until golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until golden.
- Repeat to create three layers, then cut into quarters and serve warm.
Notes
To prevent sogginess, consider toasting the bread before assembling the sandwiches. Adjust ingredients to your taste with optional additions like jalapeños or different cheeses.
