Description

A comforting dish that combines savory chili with a fluffy cornbread topping, perfect for gatherings or family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Williams Sonoma Cornbread Mix
  • 1 cup Red Chili Starter
  • 1 lb Ground beef or turkey (optional)
  • 1 cup Beans (optional)
  • 1 cup Cheese (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup Chopped onions (for topping)
  • 1/4 cup Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to cornbread mix instructions.
  2. Heat the Red Chili Starter in a pot over medium heat. If desired, add cooked ground beef or turkey and beans. Simmer until heated through.
  3. Prepare the cornbread mix according to package instructions.
  4. Divide the chili mixture among mini cocottes or oven-safe dishes.
  5. Pour the cornbread batter over the chili until fully covered.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven until the cornbread is golden brown and cooked through, about 20 to 25 minutes.
  7. Let cool slightly, then top with cheese, onions, and green onions before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure your chili mixture is hot before topping with cornbread to create a steaming effect during baking.
