Description

A classic comfort side dish featuring fresh green beans, creamy mushroom sauce, and crunchy fried onions, perfect for holidays and weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 1 cup cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup French fried onions
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Trim the ends of the green beans and blanch them in boiling water for about 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the blanched green beans to the mixture and stir until well coated.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and spread it evenly.
  6. Top the casserole with French fried onions and cheddar cheese if using.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until hot and bubbly.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, avoid overcooking the beans during blanching and allow the casserole to rest for five minutes after baking.
