Description

A comforting and hearty casserole made with ground beef, potatoes, and cheese, perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté the onion until translucent.
  3. Add ground beef, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Layer the sliced potatoes in a large baking dish.
  5. Spread the cooked beef and onion mixture over the potatoes.
  6. Pour the cream of mushroom soup over the top and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  7. Top with shredded cheese.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider using lean ground beef or turkey. This dish is also versatile; feel free to make it vegetarian by substituting meat with beans or lentils.
