Description

A flavorful family recipe that combines marinated chicken, fresh veggies, and creamy tzatziki wrapped in warm pita bread.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 lemon (juiced)
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder (optional)
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 10 chicken thighs (boneless and skinless)
  • 3 Lebanese cucumbers
  • 2 ripe tomatoes
  • 6 pitas
  • 1 batch tzatziki
  • 1/2 red onion (thinly sliced)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by mixing paprika, cumin, cinnamon, oregano, salt, pepper, olive oil, and garlic in a bowl. Coat chicken thighs well and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Cook the chicken on a preheated grill or skillet over medium-high heat for 5-7 minutes per side until cooked through.
  3. Prepare the tzatziki by mixing Greek yogurt, lemon juice, red wine vinegar, grated cucumbers, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl until smooth.
  4. Warm the pita bread and layer with sliced chicken, fresh veggies, and a dollop of tzatziki.
  5. Serve immediately, folding the pita like a taco.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in fresh herbs like mint or parsley. Marinate overnight for more intense flavor.
