Description
Succulent chicken thighs bathed in a rich, savory soy garlic sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 3 tbsp potato starch
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 3 tbsp neutral oil for frying
- 8 cloves of garlic (minced)
- 2 stalks of green onion (both green and white parts separated)
- 1 tsp red chili flakes
- 1/2 cup chicken stock (or substitute with water and chicken bouillon)
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- Additional green onion (green parts) and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the sauce: In a bowl, combine chicken stock, honey, rice vinegar, dark soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside.
- Prepare the chicken: Dry the chicken thighs thoroughly with a paper towel. Mix together potato starch, flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper on a plate. Coat the chicken thighs lightly on both sides.
- Fry the chicken: Heat enough oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken thighs and fry for about 7 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- Make the sauce: In the same pan, add minced garlic, white parts of green onions, and red chili flakes. Sauté for approximately 3 minutes. Pour in the sauce mixture and cook for about a minute until it thickens.
- Combine: Return the chicken to the pan, cook for an additional 5 minutes, ensuring the chicken is well coated in the glossy sauce.
- Serve: Serve hot with steamed rice and your favorite vegetables.
Notes
Monitor cooking times closely and adjust heat levels as necessary to avoid burning. For enhanced flavor, consider marinating the chicken in the sauce for 30 minutes or overnight.
