Description
A comforting casserole that layers thin potatoes, savory ground beef, and a creamy cheesy sauce.
Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the ground beef and onion in a skillet over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain the excess fat.
- Combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix well.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, followed by half of the beef mixture, and half of the cheese.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and cheese.
- Pour the soup mixture evenly over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use consistent potato slices for even cooking. Drain the beef well to avoid a greasy casserole. Consider adding extra cheese for a crispier top.
