Shrimp Dirty Rice

Description

A quick and flavorful rice dish combining shrimp, meats, and Cajun spices for a comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb hamburger meat
  • 1 lb ground pork sausage
  • 1012 shrimp, tail off and deveined
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 2 cups broth (chicken or vegetable)
  • 1.5 cup mixed onions and bell peppers, chopped
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 tsp seafood seasoning


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the hamburger meat and ground pork sausage, cooking until browned.
  3. Remove the meat from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil and sauté the chopped onions and bell peppers until soft.
  5. Stir in the cooked rice and broth, mixing well.
  6. Add the cooked meats back to the skillet along with the shrimp and seafood seasoning.
  7. Cook for an additional 5–7 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and cooked through.
  8. Serve hot.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using andouille sausage or smoked paprika. Adjust seasoning to taste.
