Description

A classic comfort dish blending fresh green beans with a creamy mushroom sauce and a crunchy topping, perfect for holiday gatherings or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Blanch green beans in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and salt.
  4. Stir in green beans and 1/2 cup of crispy fried onions.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and top with the remaining crispy fried onions and cheese if using.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  7. Serve warm.

Notes

For perfect results, drain the blanched beans well to avoid a watery sauce. If topping browns too quickly, tent with foil. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
